Kathleen Costello is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (Supervisor) in the states of Arizona and Colorado.  She is also a national  Registered Play Therapist - Supervisor and is an active elected Board Member of the Arizona Association of Play Therapy. Kathleen holds dual masters degrees: Clinical Counselling  (M.A.) and Early Childhood Education and Administration (MS.ED), and is currently working towards her Doctorate (Ed.D.) specializing in Community Care and Counseling in Traumatology with children. Additionally, Kathleen is a National Board Certified Counselor (NBCC),  Parent -Teacher educator and an international consultant. Kathleen specializes in the treatment of young children between the ages of 3 -12 years. of age. Her areas of expertise and training include early childhood trauma, crisis intervention, stress reduction (anxiety), depression, ADHD, gifted children, neglect, physical abuse, sexual abuse, domestic violence, divorce adjustment, grief and loss, and attachment./bonding concerns. Kathleen is formally trained in ADHD, EMDR/EMDRIA, Advanced Sandtray, Complex Trauma, Expressive Arts, Theraplay,   EFT/TFT,  is Certified as a Child, Adolescent and Adult Trauma Professional (CCTP,CATP/IATP) and has been trained as a Grief and Loss Educator by National Grief Expert - David Kessler. Kathleen is also a Certified Integrative Health Coach specializing in children and adolescents, and holds certificates and/or training in Family systems therapy, Filial Therapy, domestic violence, and has completed an externship in Emotional Focused Family Couples Therapy.   Kathleen also volunteers at her church and with Hospice of the Valley - New Song – helping grieving children heal. 

Prior to becoming a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor Kathleen spent over 20 years in the educational systems,  serving in both public and private settings and has held numerous teaching credentials nationwide while teaching, directing and developing private school programs.  

Creating warm nurturing, loving, trusting, safe places for children and families to feel seen and heard in order for them to heal and grow has been Kathleen’s goal and passion for over 35 years. Her deep love and desire to help hurting children and families heal while understanding that each child and family are unique and require specialized individual care, treatment and understanding is of the utmost importance to her.  

In Kathleen’s spare time she enjoys spending time with her family, friends, children, volunteering and hiking and exploring beautiful Arizona with her beloved dog “Curious George”!
