Alona Gibson (she/her) is passionate about helping people come back home to their bodies through natural, somatic therapies. Her journey into these therapies is ever-evolving, but started in a hot yoga studio in Flagstaff, AZ, where she spent time working on the relationship between her body and mind, and noticing the positive impacts of this work spread throughout other areas of her life.
In 2018, she earned her 200 hour yoga teacher training certificate in Vinyasa Yoga, and has gone on to achieve more yoga teaching certificates in Yoga Nidra, Yin Yoga, Restorative Yoga, and Trauma-Informed Yoga. Her classes are centered around inclusivity for EVERYbody & the only goal is to feel really good in the body. She has gone on to teach yoga at Arizona State University, MonOrchid Art Gallery, and several studios in Phoenix. During this time, she also established the first Yoga Teacher Training program in Spanish in the state of Arizona, as well as a program for Yoga in American Sign Language, yoga classes for LGBTQ+ populations, and Yoga for Different Abilities (neurodivergent communities). Her favorite yoga gig is teaching the History & Philosophy of Yoga, Introduction to Ayurveda, and Inclusive Cueing for a couple local Phoenix 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training Programs.
In 2021, she received her Bachelor's degree in Nutrition Sciences from Arizona State University. Her approach to nutrition is non-restrictive, primarily based in Ayurvedic practices, and centered around the idea that eating should be pleasurable and nourishing to the body. With her nutrition practice, she has the most fun introducing clients to the philosophy and practices of Ayurveda, and helping make Nutrition an approachable & exciting component of daily life.
Her most recent, and most exciting, certificate was earned for Fascial Stretch Therapy, through the Stretch to Win Institute. She has had the privilege of watching several bodies heal, release trauma, and come back home through this specialized limb of bodywork.
